KARACHI: The partnership between the National University of Technology (Nutech) and the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) marks a significant step forward in enhancing education and employment opportunities within the construction sector, said Chairperson of ABAD Muhammad Hassan Bakhshi.

He made these remarks while meeting a Nutech delegation led by Registrar Brig Dr Syed Adnan Qasim during their visit to the ABAD head office.

Key agenda items discussed during the meeting included ABAD’s sponsorship of Nutech’s bachelor of engineering technology (BET) programme in civil engineering starting in Fall 2025, plans for ABAD’s academic audit and evaluation of ongoing BET programmes, and Nutech’s role in developing and implementing a national policy for the construction industry.

During the meeting, Bakhshi announced a commitment to support aspiring civil engineers by covering 50 per cent of university fees for the BET civil engineering programme at Nutech, along with a guaranteed job placement for graduates. This initiative aims to nurture new talent in the construction sector and provide vital career opportunities.

To ensure equitable access to education, Bakhshi proposed introducing a quota system for the BET programme to create opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. ABAD has pledged to conduct an academic audit and evaluation of the ongoing BET programme, as recommended by Nutech, to improve the quality and relevance of educational offerings in the construction field.
