KARACHI: State Bank Wednesday defeated defending champions SNGPL by 7 wickets on the third day of the third round match of the President’s Trophy Grade-1 Tournament.

It was State Bank’s second win and SNGPL’s second defeat in this tournament. The highlight of the third day’s play was double century by KRL’s Waqar Ahmed against PTV. SNGPL were bowled out for 139 runs in their second innings against State Bank at the NBP Sports Complex.

Shahzeb Khan was the top scorer with 40 runs. Niaz Khan and Kashif Bhatti took three wickets each for 24 and 37 runs, respectively. State Bank were given a target of only 82 runs to win, which they achieved at the loss of 3 wickets. Muhammad Saleem scored 28 and Imran Butt made 25 runs.

At the KCCA Stadium, Wapda were dismissed for 208 runs in their first innings in response to OGDCL’s 346 runs. Muhammad Ammar scored 68 runs. Asif Afridi took 6-52. OGDCL team was dismissed for 182 runs in the second innings. Khalid Usman took 4 wickets for 42 runs. Thus, Wapda were given a target of 321 runs to win. At the end of the game, they scored 9-2.

At the State Bank Sports Complex, KRL were dismissed for 479 in their first innings in response to PTV’s 335 runs. Waqar Ahmed scored 246 runs and added 182 runs in the seventh wicket partnership with Saad Baig, who played an innings of 95 runs. Ali Usman took three wickets. PTV were 131 for no loss in their second innings at the end of the game. Waqar Hussain was (81 not out) and Muhammad Taha was not out on 43 runs.
