KARACHI: Pakistan Sports Board has formed a committee for the preparations of venues/facilities for South Asian Games.
The committee is composed of Executive Engineer as Chairperson while Deputy DG Facilities and Deputy DG Technical are members and the objective of the committee is to ensure timely preparation, upgradation, and readiness of all sports venues and related facilities under the PSB.
The SAF games are scheduled in Pakistan in January, thus the committee will be responsible for ensuring that all venues are completed in all respects well before November 2025. The key responsibilities of the committee include planning and execution, coordination and compliance, monitoring and reporting, and pre-event readiness. Under the planning and execution, the committee will ensure that all ongoing and new projects related to venue upgradation and infrastructure development are completed well before June 2025.
It will also identify critical facility issues such as operationalizing the outer swimming pool, roof leakage at Liaquat Gymnasium, leakage issues in Roshan Khan Squash Complex, and lighting at Liaquat Gymnasium, washroom repairs and renovations in multiple venues, and general maintenance and aesthetic improvements in PSB Sports Complex. The committee will directly report to the Director General, PSB and any delays, budgetary concerns, or technical issues will be reported immediately to the DG PSB for swift resolution.
