LAHORE: The Pakistan cricket team on Wednesday departed for New Zealand from Lahore Airport via Dubai.

The touring squad features fresh talent, with Abdul Samad and Hassan Nawaz receiving their maiden call-ups to the national team, adding depth to Pakistan’s lineup. The team will be looking to fine-tune its preparations ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup later this year.

Meanwhile, New Zealand has announced a 15-member squad for the series, featuring seven players from their recent ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. All-rounder Michael Bracewell will lead the side in the absence of regular captain Kane Williamson.

Veteran spinner Ish Sodhi and pacer Ben Sears, both of whom missed the Champions Trophy due to injuries, have returned to the squad, strengthening New Zealand’s bowling attack. The series, running from March 16 to 26, is expected to be a crucial contest for both teams as they gear up for global T20 competitions.
