ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said on Wednesday that more talks would be held with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUIF) leadership on advice of party founder chairman Imran Khan.

Talking to the media, he said he had a detailed meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail on Tuesday, who advised for holding talks with the JUIF leadership. He said the last meeting with Maulana Fazl’s party leaders proved to be very good.

He said the nation and the history would not forgive whosoever would part ways with the PTI after moving forward for some time in the movement for human rights, democracy and the constitution. “I don’t think that the Maulana will leave us after moving along for a while, as whosoever does so, will hurt himself, keeping in view the critical juncture we are passing through,” he replied to a question.

About Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister’s fate, he said that the matter also figured during a meeting with Imran Khan, and it was made clear that Ali Amin Gandapur would remain in his seat, having been appointed by the party supremo.

He dispelled the impression of differences within the party and said they also were united, upholding the PTI ideology and Imran’s line of action. Salman Akram contended that there was nothing serious about the Tuesday’s exchange of hot words between Aleema Khan and Imran’s lawyer Naeem Panjhuta, saying there could be a slight misunderstanding, but nothing serious about it, as they all shared same ideology.

Referring to the latest act of terrorism in Balochistan, Jaffar Express, he suggested to the government and all political parties to sit together for the sake of Pakistan.

“After this incident, the nation has no option but to come together. At this time, we have to rise above politics, sit together and get the country out of this difficulty. The PTI will play its positive role in this regard,” he added.

Separately, Leader of Opposition in the Senate and senior PTI leader Shibli Faraz said on Wednesday that talks with the JUIF leadership was under way, and its results would become clear before Eidul Azha.

Talking to the media at the Judicial Complex Islamabad, he regretted that the country was not being run according to the constitution, and it was a serious crime. He insisted that whatever was happening was against the constitution and referred to the constitutional points he raised in the Senate a day earlier.

Shibli contended that elections of the Senate chairman, deputy chairman or president were unconstitutional in a sense. He continued that it was clear from the provisions that have been referred to that these provisions have been violated.

“We are taking this matter to the Supreme Court regarding violation of the constitution. When amendments are made to the constitution without any procedure, the constitution becomes just a piece of paper. Various cases were heard today, most of which have been granted bail by the Lahore High Court,” he noted.
