KARACHI: A delegation of businessmen met Chief Commissioner RTO-1 Dr Faheem Mohammad on Saturday and proposed the creation of a trade-tax liaison committee with a broad mandate to bridge the gap between traders and tax authorities. The proposed committee aims to foster a favourable working environment — free from misconceptions — and enhance mutual understanding.

During their visit to the Regional Tax Office-1, the businessmen held an extensive meeting with the chief commissioner to discuss the initiative.

The proposed committee would assist authorities in understanding trade practices while addressing issues related to tax evasion and fraud within the business community. It would work towards promoting ethical business practices and fostering harmonious relations between traders and tax authorities.

The chief commissioner welcomed the proposal and assured the delegation that the matter would be taken up with higher authorities for consideration.

The delegation also commended the chief commissioner’s regular interactive sessions with the business community, which aim to strengthen relations between the tax office and its stakeholders.
