MULTAN: The Pakistan Kissan Ittehad has rejected the imposition of agri tax.

Talking to journalists at the Multan Press Club on Sunday, PKI president Khalid Mehmood Khokhar criticised the government for levying an unjustified tax and overburdening the growers. He said that the farmers would take to streets against the tax imposed by the government.

He said that all farmers’ organisations across the country would protest in December.

He, however, said that their protest would not be a part of any political party’s protest. He said that agriculture was the only means of improving the economy in the country, but unfortunately the sector was not among the priorities of the rulers.

Khalid Mahmood Khokhar predicted that this year the cultivation of wheat was going to decrease by 30 per cent.
