KARACHI: FAST Cables and the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) recently hosted the FAST Forward Sustainable Development Forum, uniting leaders to advance sustainable innovation and industrial transformation in Pakistan. The event stressed the urgent need for a circular economy to combat the country’s escalating environmental challenges.

Dr Syed Irtiza Ali Shah of NUST emphasised the crucial role of university-industry collaboration in solving real-world problems. Kamal Mian, CEO of FAST Cables, called for immediate action on the climate crisis, stressing the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry.

Dr Rizwan Riaz of NUST highlighted the circular economy as an “urgent necessity”, advocating for innovative solutions aligned with national development goals. A panel discussion, featuring experts from Jazz, SDPI and NUST, offered actionable strategies for embedding sustainability across sectors.The forum concluded with a Q&A session, shedding light on the increasing commitment of Pakistani youth to climate action and sustainable innovation.
