KARACHI: Pakistani ultra-runner Fida Mohammad finished first in the 50-plus age category at the AlUla Trail Race, completing the 50-kilometer course in 5 hours, 39 minutes, and 48 seconds.
Mohammad placed 13th overall in a field of 149 runners. He was the only competitor in his age group to finish in under six hours. The second-place finisher in the category, Fawwaz Algahtani, recorded a time of 7 hours, 14 minutes.
The AlUla Trail Race, one of Saudi Arabia’s most challenging endurance events, takes place in the historic AlUla region, known for its rocky terrain, sand dunes and extreme weather conditions.
The course demands stamina, navigation skills and careful energy management due to fluctuating temperatures and varying landscapes. The event featured a mix of flat tracks, mountainous trails and deep sand, testing the endurance of all participants. “I am thrilled to have completed the ultra-marathon in such a strong manner,” Mohammad said. “It was a true test of endurance.” He is set to compete in the Riyadh Marathon next month.
