LAHORE: The German Junior Hockey team has arrived in Lahore to play a four-match test series against the Pakistan Junior Hockey team. Officials from the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) warmly welcomed the German team upon their arrival, marking a significant moment in the resumption of international hockey activities in the country following the ICC Champions Trophy.
This is a historic moment for Pakistan, as it is the first time in 29 years that a foreign national-level hockey team is visiting the country. The four-match series is set to commence with the first three matches scheduled at the DHA Lahore Hockey Arena on March 6, 8, and 11. The final match of the series will be held in Islamabad on March 13. PHF Secretary Rana Mujahid Ali confirmed that all matches will be played under artificial lights due to the holy month of Ramadan.
“This series is the first step towards restoring international hockey activities in Pakistan, and we are excited to host the German Junior team,” said Rana Mujahid. He also stated that Pakistan would soon be hosting top hockey teams from around the world, further promoting the sport within the country.
The arrival of the German team signifies the beginning of renewed international hockey engagements for Pakistan, which aims to showcase its ability to host international events and provide valuable experience to its young players.
