KARACHI: Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has requested the sports authorities of Sindh to include canoeing in the National Games 2025.

In a letter to President Sindh Olympic Association and sports minister, the governor asked for the immediate inclusion of canoe and kayak Olympic sports events in the national games. It is to be noted that canoe and kayak were part of the last national games and the events were held at Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy and

Ranch at Hanna Lake in Quetta by the Pakistan Canoe and Kayak Federation (PCKF). Secretary PCKF Hayatullah Khan Durrani said this letter by the governor aims to safeguard the future of canoe and kayak athletes in Balochistan.

“Some elements do not want to make this sport part of the national games which is quite disappointing,” said Secretary Hayatullah while talking to ‘The News’. He demanded strict action against those responsible for removing canoeing sports events from the National Games 2025.

“We will inform the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that national sports authorities are opposing canoeing sports to be part of the national games,” said Hayatullah.
