KARACHI: KRL on Wednesday defeated defending champions SNGPL by 4 wickets in the fourth round of the President’s Trophy Grade-1 cricket tournament. It was SNGPL’s third defeat in four matches and KRL’s first victory.

KRL were given a target of 207 runs to win against SNGPL at the State Bank Stadium. On the last day, they started their second innings at 81-3 and achieved the required score for the loss of six wickets. Owais Zafar scored 71 not out. He added 57 runs in the sixth-wicket partnership with Mirza Saad Baig. Saad hit 17 runs. Shahid Aziz remained not out with 13 runs.

Meanwhile, State Bank won their match against Wapda by one wicket after an exciting contest. State Bank were given a target of 145 runs to win against Wapda at the KCCA Stadium but till the lunch break, they conceded five wickets for 67 runs. The fifth round of the President’s Trophy will begin on March 1.
