Major reshuffle in PTI KP expected

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is ex pected to undergo a major reshuffle in its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, party sources said. The sources told Geo News that office-bearers at the provincial level including provincial general secretary, may be replaced. The sources added that PTIleaders Muham mad Atif Khan and Arbab Sher Ali could be entrusted with new responsibilities as part of the restructuring process. The district organisations of PTI in KP are also set to experience major adjustments. The developments come after a key meeting was held at Atif Khan’s residence prior to the removal of the chief minis ter of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from his party position. PTI leaders, including Atif Khan, Junaid Akbar, Arbab SherAli,former provincial min ister Shakeel Ahmed, MNAs Saleem Rehman, Sibghatullah and DrAmjad had attended the meeting. According to party in siders, the meeting focused on strengthening the PTI and ad dressing internal challenges. Discussions were also held re garding various organizational matters. The PTI KP chapter has faced internal divisions in re cent months. Differences first surfaced after former provin cial minister Shakeel Ahmed was removed from his position, leading to protests from within the party.Junaid Akbar, Arbab Sher Ali, and Muhammad Atif Khan made statements in sup port of Shakeel Ahmed, which subsequently resulted in disci plinary action against them. Junaid Akbar was stripped of his role

as the chief minis ter’s focal person, while Atif Khan lost his position as PTI Regional President. Similarly, Arbab SherAli was removed as PTI Peshawar district presi dent. In the wake of these ac tions, Junaid Akbar indirectly criticised Ali Amin Gandapur during protestrallies.Efforts to mend relations between Atif Khan and the chief minister were spearheaded by Asad Qaiser and Shehryar Khan Tarakai,who facilitated contact between the two leaders. Party insiders believed the changes could help address grievances and strengthen PTI’s organisational structure in the province. When con tacted, MNA Sher Ali Arbab said that the future line of ac tion about the party’s affairs would be decided after the for mal notification of the new president. “Any changes in the party hierarchy in the province will be taken after proper con sultations,” he added.
