KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest energy exploration and production company, has started production from its Bettani-2 appraisal well in District Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The well is producing 8.5 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas and 610 barrels of oil per day (bpd), OGDC said in a statement today. The gas is being processed at the company’s Bettani plant and supplied to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd network.
OGDC, which holds a 100 per cent working interest in the Wali Exploration License, has completed and stimulated the Kawagarh formation at the well. The company had announced a significant gas and condensate discovery in the Samanasuk formation at the same location on December 13, 2024.
The start of production at Bettani-2 underscores OGDC’s focus on advanced exploration and production methods, the company said. It also boosts Pakistan’s energy security and contributes to economic growth, the statement added.
