- Sepco CEO to be director of DSU, sector commander co-director.

ISLAMABAD: Personnel from the Pakistan Army, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) have been delegated powers for cutting losses and eliminating corruption at the Sukkur Electric Supply Company (Sepco), The News reported.
In light of the current losses for the Sepco, the Power Division established a Distribution Company (Disco) Support Unit (DSU) for the Sukkur electric corporation in accordance with the federal cabinet’s decision. The primary goals of this DSU are to speed up bill collection and begin a crackdown on electricity pilferage.
As per the notification issued on January 9, DSU will comprise Sepco CEO, as director, sector commander civil armed forces as co-director, nominee officer of Sukkur commissioner as member, nominee officer of Sukkur deputy inspector general as member, BS-19 officer of FIA as member, officer from Military Intelligence in BS-18/19 as member and officer from ISI in BS-18/19 as member. The DSU will directly report to secretary Power Division.
Apart from improving recovery, the DSU has also been mandated to reduce non-technical losses (theft) through administrative interventions, support in implementation of technical solution, address administrative shortfalls by establishing interface with law enforcement agencies and civil administration.
The DSU will also recommend laying off under-performing officials and officers on intelligence-based evidence.
