KARACHI: Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization, and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan underscored Pakistan’s extensive investment potential during meetings with Turkish and Azerbaijani ministers on the sidelines of the COP29 global forum in Baku.
In a meeting with Turkey’s Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Khan highlighted the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Turkey, emphasising the shared commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and collaboration.
He invited Turkish investors to explore opportunities across various sectors in Pakistan and shared details about ongoing infrastructure projects in the country’s communications sector, encouraging Turkish participation.
Separately, Khan met Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev where both leaders praised the successful hosting of COP29 in Baku. The discussions centered on enhancing Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations, particularly in government-to-government (G2G) collaborations. Khan highlighted the significant presence of the Pakistani diaspora in Azerbaijan, contributing to education, tourism and employment.
Reflecting on his visit, Khan described it as both “pleasant and productive”, noting meaningful exchanges with ministers from various countries. During the forum, Khan led Pakistan’s delegation and actively participated in sessions focusing on transport, the ‘Digital Middle Corridor & Beyond’, and the Inter-Ministerial Round Table Conference.
He also met Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov to discuss key investment and communication sector projects in Pakistan. Both the Turkish and Azerbaijani ministers commended Pakistan’s active participation in COP29 and assured their countries’ support in fostering stronger ties.Minister Khan’s visit underscored Pakistan’s intent to deepen regional cooperation and attract foreign investment to spur economic development and innovation.
