KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday lauded the Launchpad Pakistan initiative by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), calling it a historic milestone for the country’s economic growth.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony at the Federation House, Shah stressed the need to translate modern research into practical applications, saying that innovation often emerges from challenges.

He expressed confidence that Launchpad Pakistan would serve as a bridge between academia and industry, fostering economic progress. He underscored the importance of boosting local production, highlighting its role in job creation, economic stability and long-term sustainability. According to him, the Sindh government prioritises youth employment, particularly given the current economic challenges.

Launchpad Pakistan, he noted, offers a golden opportunity for entrepreneurs, inventors and young visionaries to connect with investors. He urged universities and businesses to actively engage with the initiative to achieve practical economic benefits.

Shah also emphasised the critical role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the economy, stating that Launchpad Pakistan would facilitate investment access and financial support for these businesses.

He reiterated the need to reduce import dependence and strengthen local industries, highlighting the importance of domestic investment to conserve foreign exchange. Concluding his remarks, the chief minister reaffirmed the Sindh government’s full support for Launchpad Pakistan, stressing that empowering the youth is key to the country’s economic future.
