LAHORE: In a recent tri-nation series match against South Africa, three Pakistan cricketers—Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam, fined for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Shaheen Shah Afridi faced a 25% fine of his match fee for inappropriate physical contact with South African batter Matthew Breetzke during the 28th over of South Africa’s innings. The incident, which involved Shaheen deliberately obstructing Breetzke, resulted in a physical altercation and an argument on the field.

Saud Shakeel and substitute fielder Kamran Ghulam were each fined 10% of their match fee for celebrating too closely to batter Temba Bavuma after his run-out in the 29th over. Their actions were deemed provocative, breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

In addition to the fines, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary records of all three players. The penalties were accepted by the players without the need for formal hearings, as they admitted to the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by David Boon of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Michael Gough, third umpire Richard Illingworth, and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi.
