KARACHI: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) beat Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) by nine wickets on the third day of the fifth round of President’s Trophy Grade-I at the NBP Sports Complex on Monday.
Following-on, SNGPL could manage 288 all out with the help of half-centuries from Abid Ali and Saad Khan, setting a 17-run target for WAPDA. Ali Raza picked up his second first-class five-wicket haul as he took 5-55 in 17.2 overs on day three. WAPDA chased the meagre target in 3.5 overs. At the UBL Sports Complex, Eshaal Associates beat Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) by six wickets as they chased the 155-run target in 36.3 overs. Earlier in the day, OGDCL resumed their batting from overnight score of 140 for no loss but were dismissed for 292 all out.
OGDCL’s opening batter Sameer Saqib (125 not out, 250b, 18x4s, 1×6) carried the bat, while his fellow opener Hasan Raza struck 89 off 93 balls. Eshaal’s Nisar Ahmed returned match-winning figures of 30.5-8-82-5 in the second innings.
At KCCA Stadium, opening batter Kashif Ali struck 235-ball 133 with the help of 13 fours and two sixes as Ghani Glass finished with 329 all out setting Pakistan Television (PTV) 243-run target. PTV’s Mehran Sanwal picked up five wickets for 64 runs in 20.2 overs. In turn, Shamyl Hussain struck an aggressive unbeaten century 120 runs not out, with the help of 13 boundries and 2m sixes, while Mohammad Taha chipped in with 68-ball 53 runs to take PTV to 204-2 at stumps on day three.
State Bank of Pakistan require 135 more runs to win against Higher Education Commission (HEC) as they finished the day three with 158-3 in 66 overs. Earlier, HEC were bowled out for 321 as they resumed their second innings from overnight score of 218-6.SBP’s Mohammad Ismail took 5 wickets for 97 runs, while he was backed up by Rameez Aziz, who picked up 3-41.
